Tourist Attraction in Selangor


SUNWAY LAGOON 

Sunway Lagoon Water Park, one of famous theme park was established on 1997 brings fun for citizens around Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya. The theme park located at Sunway City, Selangor surrounded by skyscrapers. Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall and Sunway hotel also become interest places that attract domestic and foreign tourist. Sunway Lagoon Water Park was a tin mine and now it transform to popular theme park. During 2007 to 2010, Sunway Lagoon has been recognized by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attraction (IAAPA) as Asia's Best Attraction. It is also home to mega events and concerts such as MTV World Stage and Arthur's Day Celebration. Tourist can choose Water Park, Amusement Park, Wildlife Park, Extreme Park and Scream Park, or spend whole day to enjoy entertainment facilities provided by Sunway Theme Park. Besides, tourist can experience the largest man-made surfing beach, longest pedestrian suspension bridge, Asia highest slingshot ride and Asia longest flying fox trails.


The exists of theme park giving benefits to local citizens and drive economic. The government joint with Sunway corporation provided facilities such as public transport service and improve traffic connection to attract tourist. For example, tourist can take Bus Rapid Transit Sunway Line public transport service to Sunway theme park with easily and also encourage citizens using public transportation to solving traffic jam problem. Before theme park built, the lot was a tin mine and become wasteland cause it been consumed by developer. Tan Sri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah, the founder was transformed became a tourist attraction and create job opportunity to citizens. Sunway Lagoon also become the most suitable relaxing destination for citizens.

BATU CAVES


Batu Caves is a limestone hill that has a series of caves and caves temples in Gombak, Selangor. It takes its name from the Sungai Batu (Batu River), which flows past the hill. Batu Caves is also the name of the nearby village. This cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, and is dedicated to Lord Murugan. Moreover, it is also recognized as the Cultural tourists destination in Selangor, Malaysia. Specifically, Cultural tourist attraction refers as the lifestyle of the people in those geographical areas, the history of those people, their art, architecture, religion, and other elements that helped shape their way of life such as festivals.


Thus, tourists will move to Batu Caves to experience the cultural environment. When the movement of persons to cultural attractions away from their normal place of residence, with the intention to gather new information and experiences to satisfy their cultural needs, it’s recognized as Cultural tourism. Besides, the Hindu festival of “Thaipusam” in Batu Caves always concerned by the Indians in Malaysia.Batu Caves is an iconic and popular tourist attraction in Selangor. Batu Caves has three main caves featuring temples and Hindu shrines. Its main attraction is the large statue of the Hindu God at the entrance, besides a steep 272 climb up its steps to finally view the stunning skyline of the city centre.  It acts as a site of Hindu temple and shrine, and Batu Caves attracts thousands of worshippers and tourists to come over, especially during the annual Hindu festival, “Thaipusam”.


The benefits that tourism brings to Batu Caves area are the economic benefits. When there is tourists visit Batu Caves, tourism provides direct jobs to the community, such as tour guides. Visitors’ expenditure generates income for the local community and leads the alleviation of poverty in an area, which are heavily reliant on tourism. Moreover, the popularity of the tourism venue also can lead to infrastructure development. Such as city buses, roads, KTM, taxi, hospitals, which have the potential to benefits the local community and the economic development.
In addition, the tourism in Batu Caves also can lead social benefits. For example, it can be a unique characteristic of local community ways of life, history and culture. At the same time, tourism of Batu Caves also can play a role to preserve the traditions of Hindu festival event, such as “Thaipusam” in the area Selangor.

THE MINES SHOPPING MALL

The Mines is marked on the interactive map on the Top Selangor Attractions page. The Mines is about 20 minute’s drive from KLCC, due to the traffic conditions permitting. Serdang Komuter station is the closest railway station (KTM line) and there is a shuttle service available from the station to The Mines. NATIONAL ZOO OF MALAYSIA

Zoo Negara (National Zoo) was officially opened by the country's first prime minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman on 14 November, 1963. At the time, entrance rate was 50 cents for adults and 20 cents for children. Among the attractions at the zoo include Akuarium Negara opened in 1972 and in 1984 renamed Akuarium Tunku Abdul Rahman, Bird house, Reptile House, Ape Centre, Savannah Walk, and Mammal Kingdom. There is also Zoo Negara by night. Catch a glimpse of many animals who are at their most active at night. There are more than 5137 animals from 459 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish. Zoo Negara covers 110 acres of land which is situated only 5km from the city of Kuala Lumpur.

The main objective to attract more international tourist to visit our country apart from being a place for animal shelter.National zoo is the choice for tourists, especially parents or school authorities who want to expose their children about the life of flora and fauna. Other than that, this place can be the social place to the community especially when there are event being held such as trained animal show. With the existant of this place, it indirectly has helps provide jobs for local communities. National zoo also being choice for researchers to make a reseach of the wildlife behaviour closer and more effective.

I-CITY, SHAH ALAM

Attraction to this place was manmade which all available here are made by humans. I the city was divided into four parts, namely the city of lights, snowalk, digital trick museum, and water world I city, all this place made by humans. This place is classified as man made because all part in I city made itself and it is not natural. Example snowalk in snowalk Division, built from ice and anyone in snowalk he will feel like being in other countries that have the winter temperature in the snowalk was-5 Celsius. In turn, such as the city of lights digital, here they will feel like somewhere else as this place is filled with trees and colorful interiors color lights like are celebrating Christmas and this looks interesting and beautiful.


I-city Shah Alam also can be social attraction because we can do many activities together with our family or friend. I-city also boasts a number of games that are suitable for the whole family to play. In addition, I-city has introduced new attractions that know as 'Space Mission'. 'Space Mission' that was introduced is intended to foster interest in science and space technology, and this can also be done with the family. With this 'Space Mission' is one of the social attractions in I-city Shah Alam. At the I-city Shah Alam, parents can take advantage with their child at the attraction at Itsy Bitsy which features rides.

I-city Shah Alam imparts the benefits to tourism because with the availability I city people will come together to feel the situation as foreign countries. People can feel the chills as overseas and unable to play with snow. I city to attract many tours to come there and be able to improve the economy.
